The Argonne forest On the borders of Champagne lands, the Argonne Country opens out on a large forest offering to walkers trekking routes on foot or by bike. At the start of the MIddle-Ages, monks enhanced the forest: abbeys of Beaulieu, Moiremont, Châtrices and La Chalade were born. Wood, abundant, was used as a fuel for glassworks and chinaworks, whose most famous productions are plates called Islettes, (XVIIIe century) highly appreciated by collectors.
