A geo-strategic location

Crossed by the main routes from Northern Europe to the South, the Marne county is before all a crossing area, a vocation illustrated before by the Champagne Fair Trades in 12th and 13th centuries.

The county has a road network very dense and very busy, both by the East-West axis and in the North-South direction.

The main roads are RN 31, 51, 4, 44, 3 and 77 and motorways A4 (Paris, Metz; Strasbourg) and A 23 (Channel tunnel).

En 2007, Châlons-en-Champagne and Vitry-le-François are served by TGV Est (high speed train) .

The region is an important link for water transport between the networks of Seine, Marne, Rhin and Saône rivers.

High logistics flows
