The Marne county, which belongs to Central Champagne, often stands in the first French ranks for its farming production and at global level in some cases.

Central Champagne houses the 3rd global malting, Malteurop, a subsidiary of Champagne Céréales (1st cooperative group of cereals collect in Europe).

The Marne county produces more than 12 % of the French production of sugar beets ranking just behind the Aisne county. Great industrial leaders are present in the Marne county via Téréos and Cristal Union, in Central Champagne Sucre Union Conditionnement in Sermaize-les-Bains.
Sugar beets are currently studied with attention for the new markets they offer in the field of biofuels .
